Life should be celebrated.
This means you also need to let others celebrate you! I gave in to my husband (aka, Kevin) throwing me a 40th Birthday party and I'm so glad I did. It was an entire year of me pushing back on his idea of planning a celebration. Over time I realized it was something that was important to him and I needed to let him take the honor in planning. For me, it was simply a celebration of friendship and love. Fun fact about my sweet hubby, he was the President of the Jr Board for Chicago Children's Memorial Hospital where he planned many black-tie fundraisers where he learned party planning 101. With the help of our 11-year-old daughter, they did such a lovely job!
Kevin was kind enough to say yes to me planning the dessert table. Our older two children wanted to help so they ended up being the ones to decorate and set up the dessert table. All I did was plate up desserts I purchased from several different stores around town and placed out different linen that could be used. I loved that my children were able to take such pride in planning this party. It's one we will never forget!
I hope this encourages you to celebrate others and let others celebrate you... even when it's out of your comfort.
